My name is Alan Sipe and I have been owned by a flock of birds for approximately 15 years. I started out with a Senegal and over time I got a Cockatoo, then an African Grey, a Macaw, and so on. I found that I had a knack for handling and reading the larger Macaws.

I volunteered my time at a bird rescue and learned so much more about them and the plight of the homeless parrots and why the problem existed. I helped a few years with the one rescue and then I hooked up with Feathered Sanctuary when it was in Holtwood, PA.

I love to work with the larger birds, as I am most comfortable with them, but I have also been working with the Cockatoos which are much harder to read or predict their behavior. Educating the public about birds and their caregivers is one of my passions. Birds will always be a big part of my life. Let me tell you MY story……
